Description
August- October
Participants will work together with our staff to perform excerpts from the Musical Mary Poppins, which is perfect for performers ages 7-18! There will be an in studio performance for friends & family on October 8th!
October-March
Musical Theater Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to perform in the presentation of “Exodus, the Story of Deliverance.” From the baby in the basket, to the parting of the Red Sea, dance and artistry will portray vivid scenes of this epic story as we follow Moses and the Israelites on their journey to freedom! This powerful adventure will captivate us, and remind us of God’s faithful promises to deliver his people as we joyfully celebrate this journey of faith together!
March-June
They will also get to participate in the June 2026 Classical and Contemporary Recital! Every year we present an exciting end-of-the-year production, which features all of our dancers and dance genres at our school! This is a highlight of our year, and we love celebrating all of our students and art styles!
Performers are expected to do work outside of rehearsals, such as reviewing choreography and blocking, as well as memorizing lines and songs.
Rehearsal Schedule
Students will rehearse each Wednesday from 1:30-2:45pm.
Classes
It is strongly recommended that Musical Theater students are also enrolled in a dance and choral class at Ballet Rejoice. These classes will teach foundational skills which will help students excel in their Musical Theater & performance experience.
Ballet Rejoice is an approved vendor for many local homeschool charters and charter funds are accepted! Upon enrollment, a registration fee of $50.00 will be collected to reserve placement. Monthly tuition will be collected on the first of each month
Auditions and Roles
Auditions for Mary Poppins will be held on the 2nd week of classes. Audition materials will be provided for you, closer to our start date. All participants will be cast, though not all participants will be assigned a named part or speaking role. We firmly believe that every part is important and vital to the show’s success.
Parent Volunteer Help
We can’t put on a show without our wonderful parent volunteers who help make it possible! We require each family to sign up for one or more volunteer roles throughout the semester for our performances! More information to come.
Instructors
The instructors for this class are Tessa White and Brittany Cody-Bays.
Meet Brittany
Brittany grew up in San Jose Ca where she learned how to dance at age 10 in her local church. She trained in various genres of movement but became most passionate about dance with purpose. From there, she got her BA from Jessup University in Music and Worship and further developed her dance artistry in the theatre department. She became a principal dancer and dance captain for most notable shows such as, White Christmas, Oklahoma, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.
